1993 – Founding Year
Preliminary Discussions – During the year we held preliminary discussions with many interested persons about plans for a new organization.
Founding Board Meeting – On December 20, fifteen people assembled for the founding GPF board meeting in a building across from United Nations headquarters. Erskine Childers and Beverlee Bruce were elected co-chairs of the board and Jim Paul was named Executive Director.
Incorporation – We incorporated Global Policy Forum as a not-for-profit corporation in the State of New York (USA)
Global Policy Forum is supported primarily by contributions from generous individuals who join as members. GPF also receives grants from foundations and partner institutions. GPF is incorporated in the State of New York, registered as a charitable organization and recognized by the US Internal Revenue Service as a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the revenue code.
