The UN system is mainly financed through assessed and voluntary contributions from member states. (A very small part of the budget is financed through sales of UN souvenirs, books and brochures) The Regular Budget, the Peacekeeping Budget, and the international tribunals budget, are funded through assessments. The UN Programmes and Funds are financed through voluntary contributions from member countries. The UN Specialized Agencies are funded partly through assessments and voluntary contributions.
